Intro
SPEAKER_02Hello there, everybody. Welcome back to the Objectively Bad Podcast. Once again, my name is Dan, and Chad is uh saying some shit silently to undermine me, this fucking bitch.
SPEAKER_00I was trying to see how much I could I could copy you, and then I was like, I don't know what he's gonna say. I kind of know what you're gonna say. But also, you're you're a man of mystery.
SPEAKER_02I am. They they do typically say that when you meet me in person, you just can't understand.
SPEAKER_00I just can't put my finger on you. It's because it's because you're so tall and you're holding my head like this. Yeah, um, I'm swinging, but I just hold you away. Yeah, it's because you got them long ass arms.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, those long ass arms are mysterious. How long are they? You can't see the ends of them on the camera. They could go on they could go on forever. Dude, wouldn't they? They might. It'd be so cool if like they just come out of your camera and start touching you, just reaching all the way around. Oh god! Yeah, yeah, it is scary. No, but uh, we're back today. I think we have a few new viewers because uh I talked about the podcast in my live stream last night. So maybe a few new people listening for the first time. Welcome. We're gonna start
Is Dan the Greatest Human Ever?
SPEAKER_02off by telling you why I'm better than all of you as a human. So I saw a news article just today when I woke up on YouTube from Nine News Australia, which is a news channel here. And the it's a YouTube video, not a news article. The YouTube video is called Sydney's Highest Driving Test Fail Rates. So they went around to all the different places where you take a driving test to get your your P license, kind of like a learner, the secondary learners license in Australia, and they ranked all the different places on terms of how high the fail percentage is. And in terms of the map that they currently have on the YouTube video, they have four different towns or locations with a fail rate of over 60%. So at 61% is Wetherill Park, don't know what that is. 62% is Marylands, I think I know what that is. Maryland? Marylands with an S. And with an E for Mary, like Christmas Mary, not Mary Jesus. Then we have 65% Silver Water, which is closer to the C BD. Most of these are actually quite suburban, they're not like in the city, which is quite surprising to me. And then with 64%, the second highest fail rate is actually Penrith, which is where I did my driver's test. Nice. So I passed my driver's test in one of the highest fail rate places in Sydney.
SPEAKER_00Now, does that mean it's more difficult to pass, or just all that more of the people that live there are stupid?
SPEAKER_02I will say there's a good chance it's a second one because Penrith and the area surrounding it, there's a town like not too far from Penrith called Mount Druid, which is like I don't know if it's the drug capital of Sydney, but it's not a nice area, it's not great. Okay. Um, Penrith itself is not fantastic. I actually picked Penrith to do my drive. I don't I lived when I was in Sydney. I lived like a half an hour drive from Penrith. I picked there because it was like quite suburban and far out of like any large city area. And I thought it'd be easier. Apparently, according to this, that's just not really, which is funny.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's okay. That's that. I I what I wonder if maybe some of the more suburban areas fail because they're only used to driving in a suburb where they have a little more space, they're not necessarily going so fast, and then they get like actually tested, and then there's a good chance, yeah. They don't know what they're doing. Testing in the US is fucking stupid because it's so easy. I basically drove like 20-25 miles an hour in a suburb.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, and also the requirements for you to even do the test in the first place is really easy. In Australia, you have to do 120 hours of driving with a supervisor, a I think it's like 10 hours of driving with like a professional, not just like a parent or something. You need to take like a safety course, you need to do a pre-written test, and you need to do I don't there's a uh another type of safety course that's not uh required, but if you do it, it gives you like 20 hours of driving on your notebook. So there's a lot of stuff, and then you have to do this test, and then from that point, you have to wait three years to get your full license.
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm. I it's so it does depend on the state. Some states are more strict. Um, I got mine. Like Texas, right?
SPEAKER_02I'm assuming Texas is really strict on driving laws.
SPEAKER_00I can imagine they are, but I have no idea they could be. I highly doubt it, but they could be. Um yeah, I basically turned onto a main road, I turned I took a right turn onto a main road. I then immediately took a right turn into a suburb and drove around a suburb. I parked a couple of times. Yep. I went on a roundabout, but it was like the world's easiest roundabout. It was it's kind of one of those roundabouts where like it was a four-way intersection, but it's a straight line, so they put a roundabout in so people don't gun it down this like that's kind of what most roundabouts are like, to be honest. Yeah, but there are some that are like it clearly wasn't a roundabout prior, it was just a four-way stop. Gotcha. But so many people would just like in the middle of night just gun it because it's a straight line. Yeah, so they put in a roundabout, like you can tell because the road doesn't look like it was built to have a roundabout.
SPEAKER_02I'm lucky shocked you had a roundabout in your test because all I hear from Americans is that they don't know what the fuck a roundabout is or how to use them.
SPEAKER_00Um, that's true. That's a lot.
SPEAKER_02I see so many types of Americans just not knowing how to use them at all. Like they drive over or go the wrong way, or just get confused and scared. It's really funny.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, obviously that's like the low percentage of people, but their roundabouts are becoming more popular here, yeah, which is good because people are getting better at them. But like I I so I did have a driving instructor for a little bit. I I was mostly top on my dad, um, and I didn't need a driving instructor. I will say, and this is the fucky thing of America, they'll give you a license if you pass, but if you have a driving instructor, you can put that on your insurance and it'll make your insurance cheaper. So it's a weird pay, because driving instructors aren't free. Um pay to make something cheaper.
SPEAKER_02That's funny. Yeah, in Australia, it's I'm pretty sure, at least in Sydney, when I did it, it's required to do at least 10 lessons with a driving instructor. Yeah, because like really when you think about it, driving a car is the most dangerous thing any human does on a consistent basis. Yeah, is the number one thing that you're probably gonna die from or kill someone else from. The fact that people are given the like I think Australia is maybe a little bit too strict with how long it takes to get a full license. But then again, I think also safety is important when it comes to something like that. America's probably not strict enough.
SPEAKER_00Oh god, no. Not less. There are too many people that have licensed that shouldn't. Yep. Um, that also goes with like elderly folks.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, no, we've talked about it before. Like, I don't I think as soon as you turn 65, you should have to go driving test every few years to make sure you're still like yeah, good.
SPEAKER_00Because like there are some people who I see drive or like people that I know that I'm like, oh, they shouldn't be driving, and then someone's like, Yeah, yeah, no, they're still driving. I'm like, they're gonna kill someone one of these days.
SPEAKER_02If you're struggling to use an if you're struggling to use an ATM, I I don't know if you should be on the road.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, if you can't fucking see anything, get off the like what are you doing? Get off the road. Yeah, um, yeah. I good for you, I guess. You're in what the top, like you're a part of a 30 something percent um, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, depends what they mean by fail, because I technically did fail once, but we don't need to talk about that. So GTA 6 check.
SPEAKER_00Okay, okay. Yeah, let's talk GTA 6. Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_02To cover myself up, I did fail once. However, in terms of the way the driving test was structured, I did every single thing correct except my very first turn. Like literally everything else was perfect except the first turn because I I was just nervous. And if you know Pembrith is a really fucked ins intersection in there, that just confused me. I I got it, I didn't I did it the next time perfectly. It just one turn fucked me up.
SPEAKER_00I want to let you know, I was gonna think so highly of you. All of that is gone. Uh I think nothing of you.
SPEAKER_02It is part of my brand to have simultaneously a god complex and an inferiority complex. I gotta keep the balance in check, you know.
SPEAKER_00Sure, yeah, you gotta you gotta have a bit of both.
SPEAKER_02I can't be too far one way or the other. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, fair enough. All right, GT6.
Rockstar Keeps Dissapointing Us...
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so Grand Theft Auto, sex, which is the German word for sex, not what I have on a daily basis. Because I'm alone. Yeah, so the game If you lived here. Oh. Good change. Oh, don't don't give me a good time. Don't tempt me with a good time. Uh GT6, yeah. So recently there has been by the time this is out, I think the leaks would have been proven to be false, or at least didn't come to fruition in the way that the community thought they were. There was a leak from Best Buy the shop a few days ago that basically it was sent out to a few creators that had affiliations with Best Buy. I think mainly just one big creator, not even that big, he was like somewhat small, but he's a creator. They got an email from a Best Buy affiliate program saying, Hey, between the 18th and 21st of May, pre-orders are gonna start for GTA 6. Use this affiliate link to get 5% when people buy the game. Which, first of all, that's a that's a lot of money if people are using your affiliate for five dollars, five percent, it's pretty good.
SPEAKER_00Five percent over a billion copies. Yeah, I know, right? It probably won't be a billion copies, but like but if it's eighty dollars, you know, that's that's solid.
unknownIt's pretty good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but so what everyone was thinking was that on the 18th or the 19th, because rocks are usually tweet either Monday or Tuesday, which was the 18th and 19th, there would be either a trailer or pre-order announcement or something. So the past few days, all the big GTA creators and people have been streaming. I've been streaming to like 3 a.m. Because according to when they did their Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 5 pre-order tweets, it was at like 2-3 a.m. Australian time. So I've been staying up late streaming, just in the a just in the chance that a trailer drops or something drops that I'm there to react to it and talk about it. And thus far, Rox have tweeted about a GTA online weekly update, a GTA community race series, and then last night, which was kind of the nail in the coffin for all of the hope, a Red Dead online outfit post.
SPEAKER_00Nice so pretty inspiring stuff.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, pretty uh incredible stuff from Rockstar. So it has been about a year and I want to say four months or so since we've had any actual like new stuff about GTS6 since trailer 2. And in five days, or yeah, five days, it will be exactly the date that GTS was meant to come out before before I got the delay, May 26th. Uh, yeah. So the fact that we have gotten not a single image, not a single tweet saying development's going well, not a single trailer. The only thing we've technically had is Strauss Zelnick, who was the CEO of Take to Interactive, who's the parent company of Rockstar, did an interview a few days ago where he said with someone that the interviewer asked him uh something like, oh, you don't know what's going on in terms of like development or whatever. I can't remember how the question was phrased, but he's just like asking some shit. And Strauss Zelnick basically replied, No, I do know November 19th is when you'll see it. Like he was pretty confident that yes, November 19th, it's happening. Now, you would think the CEO of a company wouldn't be so confidently saying something like that if it wasn't true. Sure. However, you would hope. We we got a trail, like trailer two is still pinned on GTA's YouTube, it's still pinned on their Twitter, and at the very end of the trailer, it still says confidently May 26th. They haven't updated it or changed it, and they were confident about that date, and it's still wrong. So I don't want to say he's lying.
SPEAKER_00What if it did just drop on the 26th of May?
SPEAKER_02Honest to God, if if GTA 6 dropped on May 26th, I'd probably have to cancel my World Cup trip.
SPEAKER_00That would be crazy. I would have to go, I'd have to see the game twice because that there would then be two tickets.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so that means you could re-watch it in in real time.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's how it works. I'd have to watch it twice as hard.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. No, generally, if it dropped May 26th and no, I I have bought refundable tickets. I'd have to like cancel my trip because like I can't afford to be away for a month right as the game releases.
SPEAKER_00No, that's totally fair.
SPEAKER_02It also doesn't make sense. No, they're not they're definitely not gonna do that. I would bet my left penis, because I have two of them. Wow. That they're not gonna release it on May 26th.
SPEAKER_00Well, I mean, shit, at least you'd have your right one, I guess.
SPEAKER_02I know, it's the better one. Much longer. So I in response to so let me clear this up. I've talked about this on stream a lot. I've mentioned it to you. I personally, from a personal love for the game standpoint, don't really give two rats asses about a trailer or a leak or anything. It would be nice, but you know me, Chad. I'm a very chill guy. I'm very nonchalant.
SPEAKER_00So can we cut to an hour montage of you screaming? We could. That's actually the rest of the podcast. We're gonna stop talking. I'm gonna cut to one full hour of Dan screaming.
SPEAKER_02It wouldn't be difficult.
SPEAKER_00No, it wouldn't be difficult.
SPEAKER_02There's a lot of it. There's a lot of it. Uh what was I saying? Yeah, so I I'm very chill. You're a nonchalant guy. I'm a nonchalant guy. Uh Yasqueen. I don't don't ask. Don't worry about it. Uh basically, the trailer, like the way I look at life is that if I can't directly influence something, I just try not to worry about it too much. Obviously, there's some things where you still worry, blah blah blah. But like, no matter how much I complain or stress or overthink rocks are releasing news, they're not gonna release news if they don't want to at the end of the day. So personally, I don't really care that much for a trailer. I when the game's here, the game will be here, and then we'll be happy. You know, that's how I see things. However, I'm also from a professional side of things, like I'm planning my life around the game. You know, there's a lot of events, it's like it's life-changing. Like I was talking about on stream again. GTS 6 for a lot of creators is like a thing we're happy about and passionate about, but it's also an opportunity to make genuinely generational wealth. Like GTS, like you saw how much GT5 blew up creators like the side man, Vamos and his crew, fucking other people. GTS 6 has a potential to do that and more. So, you know, it's a very big game, we would like to hear more about it. And also, I I want to get your opinion on this as someone who's not as tapped into the I guess gaming industry. Sure. But if you had a project you're working on, like a bigger game or a bigger movie or something, and it's one of the most anticipated things in the world, you've one of the most dedicated communities, passionate communities in the world on this thing, wouldn't you want to share stuff with them?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Like I I so I I I just don't, yeah. I I wonder if like November 19th? Yep. 17th? Yeah, November 19th. If that they feel good about my assumption is they feel confident, they're like, okay, we're we're gonna get it on November 19th. But there's probably because they've already had to delay once, I think they maybe sit here and go, I don't want to accidentally keep their hype up and then delay it again. It's almost easier if they don't keep talking about GTA 6, and then you know, it doesn't come out, and then they're like, so we've been talking about this for a hot second, anyways. It's good like I almost think they're like, let's just put our you know, heads down, grind it out. Um maybe they're paying less marketing people so that they could pay more coders. I I Rockstar makes a shitload of money. I don't think that's necessarily how they need to allocate funds, but like I my assumption is that they're like, we've already had to delay it once, it was disappointing, it's a massive game. We don't want to keep disappointing people. Let's just kind of chill until we feel 100% confident that it's coming out. I do agree. Uh, if I was doing something, I'd love to be sharing and something just periodically.
SPEAKER_02I don't even expect them to do much, just like give us like a little art piece of artwork or something.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, give us little snippets. They're also that feels something more that like an indie company would do where they just drop like a weird a little progress pick on like Twitter, but Rockstar is a massive corporation, yeah. Well and so to some degree they gotta be corporate in a way.
SPEAKER_02I'll say there are other big corporate comp uh companies that have done things in the past that are really interesting, and it may just be the fact that you know, three weeks from now they start dropping a bunch of shit, and it's just annoying taking a while. But sure, for example, I've seen Call of Duty do it in the past because like Call of Duty Black Ops has had like a history of like really cryptic Easter eggs and stuff in zombies in the campaign. And I'm pretty sure in the past they've had like websites pre-launch that have like little Easter egg hunts that the community has gone on to find out stuff about the game. Rockstar could easily do some little things like that, and they may still. I'm not saying that they will never do it, it just at this point it's been a year, nearly a year and a half since a trailer, and we've had absolutely nothing since. Which it's just kind of crazy. You would expect at least one thing per year in terms of build-up.
SPEAKER_00So technically speaking, Rockstar did put out a website with a lot of information that was also just like a year ago.
SPEAKER_02That was the same day as a trailer, same day, yeah. It was so a year and a year and a half, and that website was great. I would just love to see you know a little bit more, you know, here and there. Yeah, yeah. Uh, the only argument I would say with when you said maybe rock star just trying to keep things quiet because development might not be going well and stuff. I understand that. The only thing I'd say in argument against it is I I feel like the cat's already out of the bag a little bit. They already made they already made trailer one, trailer two, and the bigger website. If they didn't think the game was gonna be ready, they shouldn't have started releasing all that stuff so early.
SPEAKER_00I true.
SPEAKER_02And I know that's hindsight 2020, you know, blah blah blah.
SPEAKER_00I you know, I always think that sometimes there's a disconnect between you know corporate CEOs and maybe marketing. Oh, really? Like what's actually going on. See, yours are out of touch, who would have thought. I don't know if you've ever considered that CEOs might be a little out of touch, but there's potential, a tiny amount of potential. There's a chance. Uh that that, you know, they were like, yeah, it's probably done soon. And maybe someone who's just a yes man is like, yeah, it'll be done soon. And then when they really got down to it and they were and they, you know, talked to the coding team, they're like, actually, it's not ready. Why the fuck would you guys do that? We don't know because they're not in Rockstar.
SPEAKER_02Absolutely.
SPEAKER_00It could be the case, it could just be that they thought it'd be good and then they kind of went into the user testing stage and maybe just found a shitload of bugs. Um, I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Like, there's a bunch of things that could happen. It could be that a new technology was found out like a year ago that's gonna make it better so they've had to like redo a bunch of stuff, or they found a big bug fucked shit up. There's a bunch of reasons. I I guess it's just yeah, it's just disappointing that they don't keep the community updated that much at all.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it'd be nice. I agree.
SPEAKER_02Like, I I made a tweet that went kind of for me at least viral. I will send it in Discord so you can maybe add it to the podcast when I'm talking about it, and I'll just read it out now. Because it was responded to by one of the biggest sort of leakers, like past leakers for GTA. Like he was this guy, Tom Henderson, is the guy that talked about I think the the delay the first the first two times and the trailer dropping and all that, and he's like a very big figure in the community for leaks and news around Rockstar. So I tweet I tweeted uh sorry, I g send you a different image. That one's not full. Don't worry about it. Okay, I was I'm still reading it. Uh it's just that my part of my text was cut off. We'll get there in a second, guys. Don't worry. Professional podcaster idea. Professional podcaster. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Did you get rid of it?
SPEAKER_02Yes, because I'm sending you the correct. Oh
Dan Has A Viral Tweet
SPEAKER_02my god, this guy. There we go. Okay, so the tweet is. This is from me like last night. I don't know why Rockstar feels the need to be so secretive and distant from the community. It would be so easy for them to release a piece of a piece of art from GTS 6 with a statement saying that development is going smoothly. That alone would satisfy most people for months, but they seem to think that giving us nothing is better, no clue why. So that was my initial tweet. Yeah. And it has like a hundred thousand views on Twitter, 2.8k likes, and a shit ton of replies. So it's been seen by a lot of people in the community. And I think a lot of people share the sentiment. I will admit, I think my wording for For the tweet is probably a bit wrong. I say I don't know why Rockstar feels the need to be secretive and distant. I do can't I can understand why in some cases. Like you said, if the development isn't going smoothly, I can understand why they don't want to give the community uh hype or give the community uh reason to believe it's going well when it's not. I can understand that side of it. It's more the it's more that I don't understand the emotional or moral side of it. From a business side, it makes complete sense. From a personal side of wanting your community to like be happy and excited about the game. Even if commun even if development wasn't going smoothly, you could just say like, hey, we don't know what's happening with the game at the moment where we're trying our best. Or just you could just release a piece of artwork without saying anything, and people will be like fine for a bit. It wouldn't take much to uh get people just just gives people something. Yeah, you know.
SPEAKER_00I see Tom's point where he's like, as a company, they don't fucking care. It doesn't make a difference to them. And it's uh he's probably right in like, yeah, at the end of the day, they're gonna release GTA 6, and people are going to fucking like they're gonna play the shit out of it. I I was talking to a guy and he was like, I think I'm gonna take the day off of work when it releases just to play, yep, just for the hell of it. Yeah, so like GTA is gonna make money from the more art standpoint or from the more uh you know community-based standpoint.
SPEAKER_02Community personal connection, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it'd be nice, uh, but it's also not the end of the world. Like, again, like we said, we understand why. Yeah, I guess more.
SPEAKER_02It'd be cool. I understand that Rockstar doesn't have to have to do anything they don't want to. It's just it would it would be nice in the ideal world. And I'll read Tom's replies to my tweets for the audio listeners. So Tom responded to my tweet initially saying, Because in six months, when the game releases, none of it will matter, and they wouldn't have sold one copy less because they decided not to share anything yet. Which is probably true. I'm sure there's some people that might boycott the game because they're annoyed, but it won't be many. Then that that was responded to by another Twitter user, uh Little Maniac9. And he said, Yeah, we get it, it's all about profits, we know that. But if you actually care about your community, it wouldn't cost you anything to at least show an image or something like that, which is sort of my standpoint. It really wouldn't cost them anything to show, you know, a section of the map we haven't seen before, or just a different screenshot of Jason and Lucia, just to give YouTubers something different to put in a fucking thumbnail, honestly. That'd be nice.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then Tom finally responds to that. When they're doing weekly blog posts slash updates when the game releases, I don't think anyone's going to say they aren't playing slash buying because they didn't give us an update a year before launch. If they dropped an image today, tomorrow, everyone will be back to weird conspiracy theories and asking for trailer three. It does literally nothing for them to drop anything yet if they are not ready. I know it's a hard pill to swallow, but it's just a reality of launching the biggest game of the century that's going to generate billions of dollars. It's not about caring about the community, it's about doing research and analysis, and if it says they don't need to drop anything at the moment, they're not going to. Which again, for the most part, I do agree with. It is just a very cold-hearted and business-y to say it's not about caring about the community, it's about doing research and analysis.
SPEAKER_00Like, again, from a pure company business standpoint, yeah, I like you're right. It'd still be like, I don't know, it's still in the entertainment slash like art field. Yeah, it'd be nice. It'd be cool. I do agree. I think people who are getting pissed that they're not releasing anything are the people who genuinely care about the game, which means no matter what, they're still gonna buy the fucking game. Yeah, of course. But you know, it'd be cool.
SPEAKER_02It's like it's in GTA 5 online, there's a system, oh, there's different leveling systems, but the main one's RP, which stands for reputation points. The more you level up, the better your reputate your reputation is. And Rocksaw, they could get some free RP by just releasing an image or statement here or there. Bro, the community would level up a little bit, would res would get would respect them more if they were just to be a bit more transparent and like show some stuff. Yeah. But I I I could understand people getting annoyed when it's uh like I don't think people should be getting annoyed when it's like uh six months without news. It's a year and a half, pretty much. That's a long time to go without news, especially when the game's coming out in six months when there's been delays. When rocks are it's not even that rock star just being quiet as a company, they're tweeting like multiple times a week about Red Dead and GTA 5. They're just actively it feels like they're actively ignoring the community rather than just being silent, they're just actively ignoring everyone. Yeah, which I think is why people are hurting a bit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it it would be a truly crazy thing to drop, I don't know, like a 30-second trailer saying that you're announcing a game, a six, a sixth installment of a wildly popular game franchise, and then not talk about it for over a year, let alone since 2018. Um, that would be fucking crazy. That would be crazy. Um, that would be crazy, and it would never happen because that's a crazy thing to do, Todd Howard. It'd be a crazy thing that anyone, Todd Howard, could have done. Uh, but it's a good thing that no one, Todd Howard, has done that before.
SPEAKER_02I will say, in Todd Howard's defense, there are a few things I've learned about the Elder Scrolls VI that makes that not as bad. They probably should delete the trailer, but one, the trailer didn't have a release date, which is kind of nice. Both the GT trailers have had a release date. Well, they one had a release period, I think, and one had a release date or something. Uh, I might be wrong about that, but the second trailer at least had a release date. And with Elder Scrolls 6, I've heard Tom Todd Howard in an interview in the past year or so say that, like, oh yeah, the game wasn't ready then at all. We just kind of put that out there, and I I don't know why.
SPEAKER_00No, I I it's I get it. I will also say in Bethesda's defense, they put out a full ass game in that time. So, like, there's reasons why they didn't make Elder Scrolls VI. I'm just saying, for the sake of like releasing a trailer and then never making something, Elder Scrolls 6 knocks it out of the park. But it has been quite a while since a GTA has put out really anything on the new game.
SPEAKER_02So like even I don't know, time will tell. Even in a GTA DLC, put in like an outfit that has a Vice City t-shirt. Like I I when I'm asking when I'm asking Roxler to give us something, I don't even care about them giving us a trailer or anything, just a literally the tiniest of things, the tiniest of something that a crumb. Because again, what obviously for the fans, fans want something to latch on to, but I also really feel for like the smaller GTA like news focused channels that people are like struggling to like make ends meet because there's nothing to talk about. People are really like I I don't base my channel around news and information, so like it doesn't matter that much that GT6 isn't coming out or that isn't news. Sure it hurts a little bit. If there was more hype around the game, there'd be more hype around five. It would help, but it's not the end of the world for me. There are people out there that are generally probably struggling to like make ends meet and have kids or stuff because Rockstar refused to release anything. Literally, a t-shirt or a livery in a on a car and game gives people stuff to talk about. Tom Henderson in that tweet says something along the lines of they don't want to tweet any tweet anything because people start doing conspiracy theories and asking for trailer three. Why wouldn't you want that? Surely conspiracy theories and talk runner game is like a nice it's like a fun thing for the community to do to hype them up even more.
SPEAKER_00It's kind of the classic like any news is good news. It's not necessarily positive news, but it's like it's it gets people talking about it. And that's always a good thing. And oh no, people are are making theories about your game. Good, yeah. Like, I don't see the downside of that.
SPEAKER_02Like, bro, when when Elder Scrolls 6 to talk about it released that trailer, people were making theories for years about what location it might be based on the 10 seconds. And I I still and I'm pretty sure that trailer, it looks like it's kind of Hammerfeld. I don't think the game's in Hammerfell. I think that they just pick some random fucking landscape for no reason. Because there was a I think we talked about this, there was a YouTube video by a YouTuber called Annie Austin who does like a lot of Skyrim content where he in the video was like counting how many trees are in Skyrim, and he asked a bunch of different people their guess on how many trees there are. And one of the people he asked was Todd Howard.
unknownHuh?
SPEAKER_02And Todd Howard was very wrong. Um, but it's but then in Annie Austin actually asked him, will Elder Scroll 6 have more or less trees than Skyrim? And he said, more, way, way, way, way more. Which Hammerfell's like a desert, so I highly doubt there'll be Hammerfell if there's gonna be that many more trees. I mean, it could be, I guess, if the map's really big.
SPEAKER_00It could really be bigger. It sounds if he's he also might not know that answer.
SPEAKER_02He might not, he might be trolling, but if he's telling the truth and there's a lot of trees in the older scroll six, I would imagine it's probably like Valenwood or elsewhere or Somerset Isle Isles, you know. Um but yeah, again, like theories and stuff is fun. And rocks are just they don't want us to theorize, apparently. They're not, they're not I guess not they're not theorists, they're not Mat Pat fans. Mm-hmm. True. Yeah. So that's been the GTS 6 news. Hopefully by the time probably not this episode's up, but hopefully by the time next episode or the episode after whatever, we get something. Because there is a investors meeting, like a quarterly investors call on the 21st for Take Two Interactive. And then, like we said, the 26th is the date that GTS 6 was meant to come out initially. So I would be shocked, like surely they say something on that date, maybe.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. We'll see. We can hope. Um yeah. Um,
The Mandalorian Movie (no spoilers)
SPEAKER_00kind of kind of moving on to uh to a new topic for the day. Um, I got to do something exciting. We're actually technically recording in I mean a slightly different time. It's like a day later uh than we normally record. Um, I had the opportunity to go see the new Star Wars movie before it came out. In fact, I want to say by the time this is out, I mean, depending on when you listen to it, but I think when we release this, it the movie still won't have been out. So I I got uh a little exclusive access to see the new movie. How did you get that again? Uh the radio chan the radio uh that I listened to, the station, uh they put out I mean that they're owned by our iHeartRadio, but they put out surveys every week um just about new music. I honestly like it because I get to hear new music that's aligned with the kind of music I listen to. Um and every time you do a survey, you get submitted for like raffles for tickets and stuff, like concert tickets and movie tickets. Um so like when I saw Shelter, uh, by the way, best movie of the year, if not decade, if not century. Also by um by Jason Sathan, uh that was a free ticket that I that I was uh awarded by doing these surveys. So you really are boomer, aren't you?
SPEAKER_02Listening to the radio in your car, taking surveys.
SPEAKER_00I like the radio, man. I I I I get it, I hate the ads. Here's the deal I have like seven radio stations like hotkeyed onto my car. So the instant an ad comes up, I just find a new one.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and I the ads in in when I'm not that I drive often at all, but even when I was a kid, like the ads never really bothered me, to be honest. Like you just chewed the case.
SPEAKER_00It doesn't bother me that much.
SPEAKER_02It just every every week I see you. I feel like you're becoming more of a just an adult.
SPEAKER_00I'm becoming more and more of an old man. That's so true. Um the reason I like it is because I I play music at work and then I play my music in the car, and I'm like, I almost hear my own music.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's fair.
SPEAKER_00All of the time. So it's kind of good to not have that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's sort of like when I live stream, I try and put on like a playlist of like non-copyright music that I don't listen to normally. Yeah, it's just a bit different.
SPEAKER_00My drive to work is also not that long, so it's like I don't need to fill that much time. If I'm driving a longer period of time, I'm putting my own my own music on. Um but, anyways, I got to see The Mandalorian and Grogu, which uh it's gotta go in like a top 10 of worst movie names.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I didn't even first of all I didn't know this new Star Wars movie, didn't know that was the name until right now. That is a terrible name.
SPEAKER_00Bad name, terrible name. Um Star Wars, get it together, find a better name. Just say The Mandalorian. Yeah, we know Grogu's there.
SPEAKER_02It's like calling it Lord of the Rings, Frodo and Gollum.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, a little bit instead of like the two towers or the return of the kings.
SPEAKER_00Harry Potter and Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Like it it's a stupid title. Um so yeah, let me tell you about experience. I for I guess I'll start with this. I don't intend on spoiling the movie, so if you're interested in watching, I'm not gonna give away anything. I might talk about like general thoughts, but I'm not gonna give away any of the story. Um, and Dan hasn't seen it, and Dan's not gonna see it. So I'm just gonna talk about the experience. Um, I'll compare it as well to my experience scene Shelter, uh, just because they're similar enough. Um the movies. The one thing that I the movies are very similar. The movies. Um, yeah, actually, Pedro Pascal isn't in it. It's Jason Satham. Uh he plays both the Mandalorian and Grandma. Yeah. Um, yeah. Um, so I get there uh like four times the amount of people than were there for shelter, and honestly, maybe even more than that. There was a ton of people. We honestly got there and for a second we're like, are we are are we gonna have a seat? Um, because it wasn't organized very well. Gotcha. Just because there's so many people there and they were shouting something, and I was too far down the line that I had no idea what they were shouting. So I'm like, I think I'm in the right line. Because they also a bunch of people like are reserved in some way, either they want it or they're a part of some group. Like I saw there was like uh IMAX VIPs and Disney VIPs. I have no idea what those are, but like there's a bunch of different like people who had it reserved in some form or fashion. Mine was that I won it. Um, and then they were also selling tickets for anything that for anyone that didn't go. But those people came at the end. Like, if you wanted to purchase a ticket, you had to wait, and it's truly dependent on maybe you get in, maybe you don't. Um but yeah, ton of people there. Like, I was I was amazed. It was also a different theater. The theater I went into, the first one was just like a normal theater. This was like a massive IMAX theater that I got to see it in, which was cool. Uh my only gripe with it is was the radio winners uh didn't have a sign seating. They just go find anywhere that doesn't have a sign on it, which turned out to be the first three rows.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So I was kinda looking up the whole time. Uh it wasn't terrible. My neck only hurt a little bit. Um I will also say because we were so close, I can't I think it's because we were so close and the screen was so big that I could see the pixels a little bit better, but like it kind of looked like shit at some points.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I've seen some Reddit posts or Twitter posts of like people sitting really close on iMacs where it just looks really terrible from like close off.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think it's just where I was at. I was like, I think if I was further back, I it would have been a lot better. If I had paid money for that, I would have been kind of annoyed. I didn't, so I didn't really care, and it's not like I was that excited for this movie. Like you said, I didn't know they were putting a movie out until I saw Project Hail Mary, and there was a trailer for the movie. And we watched that like a month ago.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I didn't get to see any of their trailers before Project Hail Mary. I think I got there like a minute after the movie started. Because I I I got to like I went in like the gold class thing for Project Hail Mary because it was the one that started at the time when I was sort of near the cinema.
SPEAKER_00Sure.
SPEAKER_02Uh otherwise I would have had to wait like an hour and a half to do it, and I didn't want to wait an hour and a half randomly. And I didn't know where the gold cinema room was for this place, and it was apparently upstairs from where you bought food and stuff, so I had to like run there. And then because the movie had already like started, the people who were meant to be there and like show to the room weren't there. So I had to like just I didn't have to show my ticket to anyone, kind of just like went in and I had to open the door by myself. So like technically I could have just not bought a ticket, and it doesn't seem like the way they suspected me.
SPEAKER_00Interesting. I mean, you would have had to know that it wasn't sold out.
SPEAKER_02Oh no, there was literally me and two other people in the whole cinema.
SPEAKER_00That's really funny.
SPEAKER_02Um because whenever I go to the movies, which is very not often, I usually try and go like during like school/slash work hours because then the cinemas are really empty.
SPEAKER_00I've done that before, it's really nice. Um but yeah, ton of people. Uh crowded. They said get there by 6 30. If not, your your ticket might not like they might have sold your ticket. I don't think they even started letting people in until like after 6 30. Uh they said they were gonna start at 7. They very much did not start at 7. I maybe it was like 7.10, 7.15. Um which whatever. Uh yeah, I don't care. Um, so yeah, super close, whatever. Uh guy next to me was like a bit of a bigger guy, so at first I was like, man, is he gonna like you know be spreading out? But it was fine. Um, seats had enough room. Uh I had gripes with him for a different reason, which I will get to in a second. But what was funny is, and again, I'm comparing it to Shelter. The the cool thing about these, no ads, no, no trailer stuff. There was some like, you know, the kind of like pre-IMAX things where they're like, Whoa, look, it's IMAX. Yeah, IX is so cool with that kind of shit. I understand if you don't want to be in there for too long. I kind of like the ads though. Yeah, it's kind of fun. So I like the trailers. Uh, it is annoying when they're like, guys, the movie starts at the movie starts at 6 30. Anyways, here's 30 minutes of trailers.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Especially because for this occasion, it's not that I showed up at 7 when the movie started. I showed up at like 6.20, so that I was a little earlier than 6.30 when they told me to get there. So it's like the amount of waiting is the same, which is why I didn't want to see trailers. Uh, I normally like watching trailers. Um, but yeah, it was it, you know, it started a little later. And then in Shelter, the movie just started. Like, lights turned off, movie started, no one said anything. It just happened. The movie theater was half filled. Um packed theater. You know, a ton of people were there, massive like IMAX theater. Uh, and then this so the lights start to dim. This guy takes out a mic or like a bullhorn.
SPEAKER_02The guy next to you?
SPEAKER_00Or like a no no no, like staff. Okay, yeah, some guy at the front, like a megaphone, that's the word I'm looking for. And he's and he's talking to everyone, he's like, he's like, Alright, you gotta put your phones away. Like, no recording. Like, if we see you with a phone, I'll give you one warning. If you see you pull it out again, like we're kicking you out, we won't let you back in. And I'm like, okay, that's fair, you know. It's a it's a like blockbuster movie, technically, you know, it's Star Wars, you know, no recording, it's a really like you don't want to do it. But then here's the best part. He so interjections like, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I will I will say whether it's a a pre a big IMAX movie, pre-release, anything, you shouldn't take your phone out of the fucking movies anyway.
SPEAKER_00Put your damn phone away.
SPEAKER_02Whenever whenever I see someone's I like uh at Project Hail Mary, like I said, there was only one other couple in the whole entire room with me. There's only like 30 seats in the gold cinema room, but like they were the only two people in there. I could see them go on their phones throughout the movie, and I wanted to strangle them because it's just one when it's bright, it distracts me, it takes you out of the immersion, it's just fucking annoying. I all whenever I go to the cinema, every time I turn my phone completely off, every single time. Completely off. Because like, yeah, yeah, I don't want to be distracted by it. Put your damn phone away. I have a friend that I've been to the movies with, and he's gone on his phone multiple times and I've been in the cinema with him, and I'm like, motherfucker, I'm gonna stop being your friend if you do this again.
SPEAKER_00I'm I'm gonna kill you. You paid more money than you should. Not really, but like you paid decent money to go see this movie. Put your damn phone away. Yeah, uh, so I agree. What this guy said next really cracked me up because he goes, he goes, put your phone away. We'll know we have three people with night vision goggles looking out to make sure your phones are away. And I was sitting going, what the first of all, I don't believe him. To be honest with you, I don't believe him. That's all I don't think there was anyone with night vision goggles. Um, the guy next to me pulled his phone out, I think on accident or something like that. Or like he like grabbed it, he like accidentally turned it on and then like pulled it out to like turn it back off. They didn't get him, so night vision's not working too hot. So funny, dude. Uh I love that they were like, We're we got night vision goggles. I won this for free.
SPEAKER_02We have Batman in the corner, and he'll fucking kick your ass.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you pull your phone out. He will kill you. Like it's I didn't like fucking. I didn't sign anything. I didn't like, I just won it. And I showed up and they're like, who are you here with? I'm like, I have a radio. They're like, what's your name? And I'm like, this is my name. And they're like, okay, cool. Here's where you sit. Like, okay, cool.
SPEAKER_02But by the way, Chad, if you pull out your phone, we will leak your entire internet history online. If you pull out your phone, I'll kill you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I will murder you in cold blood. We have snipers. Rain. We have we have more snipers than you could imagine.
SPEAKER_02You see red dots on every single one.
SPEAKER_00There's one red dot on every person.
SPEAKER_02And the guy at the front is like, uh, please put your find aways. Please put your find away, and also smile, laugh, enjoy.
SPEAKER_00Also, there's a guy with cue cards that's like laugh, cry, aw, you know, that kind of thing. Uh, that would be great. I would, I would love that personally. Um yeah. Uh the movie itself, movie was fun. Um, Star Wars for you. Uh Star Wars is so difficult because everyone has a bit of a different opinion on about every movie.
SPEAKER_02And they're all wrong.
SPEAKER_00Um and they're all wrong except me. Um obviously.
SPEAKER_02That's why we do this podcast.
SPEAKER_00It's better than the sequel trilogy. It's probably better than the prequels, maybe not Revenge of the Sith. It's not as good as Rogue One. I don't think I don't know if any Star Wars movie is as good as Rogue One, to be honest. That might be the best one. Uh, it's not as good as New Hope. It's not as good as Empire Strikes Back, maybe better than Return of the Jedi. It's it felt like a very low stakes movie, even though there were stakes. It just it felt like a fun it was a fun movie.
SPEAKER_02Getting hungry.
SPEAKER_00Cook a little steak then. Um, just don't see the Mandalorian because there's no stakes there. Uh yeah, it it it was fun. I enjoyed it. Like, I think if you've seen the show, it kind of felt like a couple of episodes condensed into a movie.
SPEAKER_02Does it feel more like a movie you just watch on Disney Plus and go to the cinema for?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, and I don't necessarily mean that in a bad way, it's that it there were kind of two parts of the movie, and it very much felt like, all right, this was episode one, gotcha, and now this is episode two, and like they relate to each other. There's an overarching story, but it kind of felt episodic in a weird way. Yeah, gotcha. Like it felt like it could have been maybe even like three or four episodes condensed to a movie. Um I also think that I'm not mad about.
SPEAKER_02I do think there's been a lot more overlap in recent years of TV shows becoming more movie-like and movies becoming more TV show-like. Yeah. It feels like they're blending into just like one amalgamation of a media. Because like you look at Stranger Things season five where every episode was like fucking long as shit. Almost every TV show is like 50 minutes now, and the finale has become like an hour and a half. Yeah. And then, like, yeah. I I also back to the point about a movie that you'd want to just see on streaming rather than the cinemas. I think we've talked about this before. I just think there's not really because of how expensive going to the movies is nowadays, with both tickets and like food, there's not really many movies that I feel like are worth actually going to see in the cinema. There's like maybe there's maybe like 10 a year or something for the average person that like maybe that's even too much. That like feel worthy to go and see, like, you need to see it before it comes out and be spoiled. Yeah, like Project Hail Mary, I wanted to go see it. The new the Avengers films, I will go see instantly as well. Superman, but like, I don't know, like Shelter. We can I got an ad for Shelter on my TV the other day.
SPEAKER_00Nice. And I'm sure you clicked on it immediately and stopped what you were doing and watched it because it is absolutely, as we know, the best movie of this year, if not ever. Yeah. Um, yeah, I it I I I I do agree it does feel like a movie you should watch on streaming, but I don't even mean that in like a bad way. And again, it's kind of because it just felt like a TV show. It's partially because it's stem from the movie.
SPEAKER_02It's a TV show movie, it's like watching the Chainsaw Man movie, which I did watch in cinemas and was very good, but it's also the Chainsaw Man movie is just an arc from Chainsaw Man they decided to make into a movie. It's the same with the Demon Slayer movie, it's just an arc that they decided to make into a movie. Same with My Hero. Like, there's so many anime films that are just like, oh, we have a TV show for three seasons, but then this season's just gonna be one movie for some reason. Fuck it, and they just put it out there.
SPEAKER_00If it feels like Disney because they haven't put out a movie since I want to say 2019 with Rise of Skywalker, it felt like they were like, because they've been going all in on TV shows. It felt like they were like, all right, we just haven't made a Star Wars movie in a while. Everyone likes a Mandalorian, Grogu sells really well with children. Like, let's let's just put out a safe movie that'll do well, and it can kind of kickstart us on making movies again for Star Wars.
SPEAKER_02That's why they put Grogu in the title to get them selling points.
SPEAKER_00Kind of. It kind of felt like that. Because I will also say the movie was good. It did feel like it was trying to pander to every audience. So I think harsher critics are gonna be harsh to this because it's it's kind of the thing that like what satisfies all satisfies no one. Yeah, like it did the trick, it was fun. I thought the action was fun. There was good comedy bits, the you know, the world's interesting. Um, this isn't a spoiler because I think there's pictures of it. There's a do you know Job of the Hutt? Yeah, his son is in it, but his son's all grown up, and he's super beefy, um, which is really funny because he's a slug. Uh, but he's like a slug with like a six-pack.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00And it's really funny. Um, so that's kind of cool.
SPEAKER_02I see him. That's that's awesome. That's funny.
SPEAKER_00Um, like it's fun. It it's a fun time, it's a fun action. Wait, he's voiced by Jeremy Allen White. Uh-huh. Alright. Which is really funny. Okay. Just speaks English.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I imagine so.
SPEAKER_00Pretty much. Um, it's a fun movie. That's kind of all I really have to say about it so far. Again, I think the pacing is a little weird where it kind of feels like it's two episodes of of the show, but like, it does the trick. If you like Star Wars, if you like if you're a kid as well, you're probably gonna like it. Like, Pedro Pasco's great. He he plays a really good Mandalorian. No real comments on the movie. If you like Star Wars, go see it. If you kind of like Star Wars and you kind of want to see it, it'll come out on streaming probably a couple months later. Um, the only last comment I have on it is the guy sitting next to me who I was like, I thought I was gonna be worried about. I wasn't worried about for him taking up space. We were good there. This man reacted.
SPEAKER_02I was gonna say that I had a feeling that was gonna be the case.
SPEAKER_00Cause like there'd be moments where like he's fighting like a monster here, he's fighting something, and it kind of like the monster will kind of like chill for a second, and then like he'll go to strike, and so it's like quiet and then it gets loud. This man, every single time, was like, oh. He literally at one point went, Oh, you're fine.
SPEAKER_02This is not a horror movie.
SPEAKER_00How old was he? How do you think he was?
SPEAKER_02Uh 30s. Yeah, he strikes me as an adult. He strikes me as an anime watcher. That's that seems like weed behavior. Pushes up glasses, my my secret technique, I will make your panties wet, and he's just like, Yeah, he pulls out his katana, you know. Uh-huh. It gives me that.
SPEAKER_00Honestly, um, you're profiling, but you're pretty accurate. Uh I know, don't worry. Well, your your profile is accurate to my profile. Um, just just like a I there was one particular scene where he was fighting this thing, I don't know, species creature, whatever. And I swear to god, this guy flinched like seven times. And maybe the first time I could see like a little jump of like, oh, because it's like it's loud and we're up close, and like it makes a sudden movement. Like, I get it. But after a while, you're like, Okay, we know it's attacking him. Yeah, it's not attacking you. Stop it. Just stop it. Get some help. Um, yeah, otherwise, pretty good movie-going experience. Uh, people clapped at the beginning and they clapped at the end. That's fine. Beginning is a bit weird. Beginning's a bit weird. Beginning's a little weird, end makes sense because it's an advanced screening and it's Star Wars and it's big. I'm fine with it.
SPEAKER_02Dude, they're lucky Dwayne the Rock Johnson wasn't in that movie. They would have given a 10-minute standing ovation. Uh did you see that clip from from the the something machine or the smashing machine?
SPEAKER_00The smashing machine.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, where they gave him a 10-minute standing ovation for his performance in the first screening.
SPEAKER_00I did, I did see that, and it's stupid. Um, some of those film festivals will give a standing ovation all just always. Yeah. And it's like, you'll be like, oh my god, I got a five-minute standing ovation that's really good, and then the record is like a 25-minute standing ovation or some shit like that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like at that point, this is just standard. I understand making a movie is a lot of hard work, it's incredibly like a creative experience. You should you should respect people that put through the work. A 25-minute standing ovation is just performative.
SPEAKER_00Go home. Like, fuck off, man. That I might be exaggerating 25, but I actually don't think I'm that far away.
SPEAKER_02Even even five minutes is a lot, man. Yeah. I'd be happy to do that.
SPEAKER_00Because you sit here and you're like, my hands hurt.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'd be happy to happens to take it to a 10-second clap, bro. That's all you need to do.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. Um, no one clapped or really cheered in the middle. I mean, people laughed, but that happened too. Yeah, that's fine. That's fine. Um, yeah, not not too bad. Um, there were these, I don't know, like, I don't know if it was a family or just a bunch of kids, which first of all, it was a PG 13 movie, and they were not 13. Um, uh also, I don't think it needed to be PG-13, but uh there was this group of kids that was like in the middle of the aisle we were or the row we were in, and I swear to god, one of them had to pee every fucking 10 minutes. And there was like 10 of these kids. So they just kept getting up, and I'm like, it wasn't the biggest issue, but it was just like, guys, yeah, stop drinking that Kool-Aid, kids. Stop drinking that Kool-Aid. Uh, but yeah, final verdict. If you want to see it, go see it. I think it is it's a fun time. The action's good. There's a lot of action, which is good. Um if you don't want to see it, you're not missing anything. Yep. Yeah.
Is Going To Concerts Alone Depressing?
SPEAKER_00Um, I got I got one last thing for us, Dan, and I I think we can we can wrap this baby up. Uh, we got a comment that you know tickled my fancy a little bit on our last video. Uh from Mr. Llama15, uh, one of one of our regulars. Hey Chad and Dan, I've got a question for your next post. Do you guys think it would be sad going to a concert alone? Uh I want to ask this, A, because we both go to concerts, and B, you've gone to concerts alone, so you can give us a really good opinion on that. Have you not?
SPEAKER_02No. You have never been to a concert alone. I don't think so. Damn. That's uh I kind of wish I have. That's sad for me. I have been to many a concert alone, mainly because the artists I listen to aren't listened to by the friends that I live near in Australia that often. So the majority of bands I go to see, I don't have anyone to go with. So I just go by myself. I have been to I want to say like 10 to 15, somewhere in that range concerts since I've been back in Melbourne. And out of all of them, I've only been to Green Day and Blink 182 with other people. All the others have been by myself. And it's not sad. I wouldn't I I think calling it sad is a bit dramatic. Yes, sometimes sharing the experience is nice with another person, and it can be really good if you go with a friend that loves a band like me and you both discovered our love for all time low, our favorite band when we went to a concert to them to get with their concert together. And it can be really nice doing that. I think sometimes it's sad when you go to a concert and you see a bunch of happy couples like being happy together and all that shit, and I'm like, well, I'm depressed now. But for the most part, no, it's completely fine. I actually think there's a lot of benefits to going to a concert by yourself. Obviously, it can be if you're not like super socially good at going out, like I'm not the best at doing it. It can be a little scary or awkward sometimes. If you're just standing there like half an hour before the concert, because usually you want to go there early, all this time in between acts of like bands coming out, you're just kind of standing there like on your phone doing nothing. It can be a bit awkward if you're not like good at socializing with people, which I don't ever talk to anyone else at a concert because one, most of them are with other people, or two, the music's loud and it's difficult to talk to people, so there's kind of just no point. But I think the positive of going to a concert by yourself is you can just really focus on the performance and the music, which is quite nice. Like you really just get sucked into it. Whereas if you're there with a friend or someone, you might be talking and getting interrupted, and you don't fully appreciate it sometimes. It's like going to a movie where somebody talks a lot, it can be nice and funny sometimes, but also just focusing the movie is also nice.
SPEAKER_00Shut the fuck up. Yeah. Depends what you like. I think people should go to more things in general alone. That's not to say, like, like, you should socialize. Socializing is good, hang out with people is good, but like I think more people should be willing to do things just purely by themselves for the sake of the entertainment that they are getting and nothing else. Like, I've started going to movies by myself recently. It's great because here's the deal. Sure, it's nice to sit next to your friend. Because realistically, you're not doing anything except watching the movie. So, like, with a concert, while they're actually playing music, you're not at least how I go to concerts, you're not typically interacting with your friends every once in a while, outside of maybe like you'd bump into them. I don't know, like maybe you're singing lyrics together, but I've never really been one to do that.
SPEAKER_02No, at most you sing lyrics together, or like after a song's ended, you look at each other and go, like, that was sick.
SPEAKER_00You're like, whoa, that was sick. It's more, I think the downtime is where you just kind of sit there and like uh sit on your phone. Yeah, but like sad, not at all. If there's a concert you want to go to and you don't know anyone else that wants to go to it, go to that concert.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think I think it just goes for any interests, and you're not always going to have friends or people that have the same interests as you. If you what if you want to go see something or want to go do something, just go do it. It doesn't scar anyone, especially like a concert. A concert or a movie, I get I I don't like going to restaurants by myself. I I just feel awkward. It's too like open and then stuff. But in a concert or a movie, it's dark. People uh aren't looking at you or can't really see you. You get you get lost in the sauce, as they say. So like it doesn't really matter that you're alone. No one realizes that you're alone. Like no one's like looking, you go like that loser's alone.
SPEAKER_00It was like, God, look at this fucking loser. Oh, we should all shame him and throw tomatoes at him. No, like people are there for the entertainment, you're there for the entertainment. Be entertained. Yep, you don't have to be with people to do it if you don't want to. I think it's a fun experience, but like I would rather go to a concert because I want to go to the concert, not because I want to socialize. It's not to say I won't go see live music I don't know very well, uh, just because I generally like concerts, but like you're there for the sake of enjoying the performance. Yeah, like the one thing do that alone.
SPEAKER_02The one thing about I wish I had like a friend that listened or a partner that listened to all the same music as me is that like it's nice to like have somewhere to go, some have someone to go there with and also afterwards discuss with them your favorite bits about the concert. Whereas like when I leave the concert, I kind of just walk home by myself, which is nice at times. It there's positives, and like some of my favorite memories with you is like after a concert, going out and walking around the city in Munich and just like sort of detoxing and chilling and debriefing about the concert, which is nice, but being alone's fine too.
SPEAKER_00No, I think I think I enjoy concerts with people more, but I if there's some you want to go see, go see. I mean, it's the same like you know, going to a museum, very different environment, but like you can go there to socialize in in a way, but you can also go there to just look at art or look at history, like similar anything that's kind of artsy or like brings a form of entertainment. Yeah, you can go alone, nothing wrong with it. I think I don't know if it's like their stigma against it necessarily, but I don't think so. Just yeah, just do it. I don't think it's sad whatsoever. I mean, like you said, Dan, you've done it plenty of times.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean I don't really get the choice. I just kinda sure. I mean, I I have the choice not to go to them, but I I don't have the choice to invite that many people.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So yeah, no, I think it's not sad, and I think if there's someone you want to see, just go see them, just buy a ticket.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, just do it. Uh, just before we end the podcast, couple more things. One, I don't know if I mentioned it earlier in the podcast, but it is the day this is uploaded, my four-year anniversary on YouTube. Congrats to me. Whoa. Uh and uh every every year I usually upload a year in review video where I make a presentation about like the stats and stuff about how the last year went. The past three years I've done it on my main channel. This year I'm moving that video over to my second channel just because reasons with like sponsorships and not wanting to clog up the main channel with non-GTA content. But I'll be posting a video that goes over the the goals I set for myself and whether I achieve them or not, and setting goals for the next year. And that'll be a fun thing to look back on. Because it uh it's it's good to reflect and uh do that shit. I would say so.
Arsenal Won the Prem (SAD)
SPEAKER_02But final thing. I just wanted to mention that. Final thing. Chad and I are depressed today.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's true. We talked about not being sad, going to concerts alone. This is something to be sad about.
SPEAKER_02Now, many of you may not be fans of sport because you're gamer degenerates, but Chad and I fancy a bit of football, or soccer, as the Americans call it. And we do. I woke up to you, found out at work some very sad news that a football team by the name of Ars unfortunately won the Premier League. And it's never been a sadder day to be a fan, to be a human, in all honesty.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, honestly, I don't people who are happy about it, uh, they should go to hell. Because it's I it's basically like being happy that uh Hitler murdered people. Kind of, yeah, basically the same thing. Uh yeah, unironically. Yeah. One might say, Chad, Dan, you guys are being overly traumatic. This literally isn't that important. Um shut up. Maybe. Maybe you shut up a little bit. And this is, and it's sad, and we don't like it. Because it was so funny for so many years that they talked about winning and thought that they would win, and then they didn't win. And that just brought some joy in our hearts because we're, I don't know, we're probably bad people. Yeah. Um, but also, eh.
SPEAKER_02Um now they have one, but they did it in the shittiest, most boring, and dead way possible of scummy 1-0 wins, terrible football, boring, just like technically good, but not interesting to watch football. Yeah, basically robot football.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, a little bit of robot football.
SPEAKER_02And and and city had the chance to take the lead, but they just kept fucking it up at the end. And they just didn't. Although I will say one thing, there's two things about City losing the title race that gives me some solace. One, it's that I am a United fan, you are Liverpool. We both do hate City. So as much as I do hate Arsenal, maybe more at the moment, it's it's nice that City aren't winning another one, if we're being real. Secondly, I'm kind of happy that Pep left on a low point. That's nice.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's kind of interesting. Uh, because Pep also announced also weird to announce like two day two games before you're done to announce that you're leaving.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I probably should have done it after the league was over, maybe.
SPEAKER_00I would have done it after the league was over. Uh, because I could definitely see that the vibes could be bad in the locker room.
SPEAKER_02Absolutely.
SPEAKER_00Um, very, very strange, very curious. Don't know why he did that. But also, that man's a bald fraud. So yeah.
SPEAKER_02I will say though, a very interesting Premier League, it's gonna be next year because I saw a tweet about this that it's almost like a complete reset of the hierarchy of esteemed managers. Like, we don't like this. It feels like the first time in a very long time we have a fresh new set of like new young. Managers because Klopp's gone, Pep's gone, Pep's gone. Other ones. I'm trying to think of they're the main.
SPEAKER_00I honestly got Klopp and Pep were like big since like I don't know. They're like the two guys.
SPEAKER_02They're like the big two that have been here for a while.
SPEAKER_00But there's like uh most Reninia's not in it. There's not really like a big Chelsea manager. No, no, no, manager's pretty new. Manager.
SPEAKER_02Mainly it's most the fact that most of the managers are sort of like 30s, 40s, sort of young, not much experience, or like not experience winning big things. So it's gonna be really interesting to see. I I'm gonna predict it now. I think United have a good shot at winning the Prem next season.
SPEAKER_00You're gonna predict that every year, anyways.
SPEAKER_02The reason why I say it this year, though, is that City are probably gonna have maybe a bit of struggle season next year. Because potentially first year with that pep in like a decade, they already weren't that good this year. Moreska's coming in, he wasn't that good at Chelsea, he got sacked from Chelsea. So, I mean they could do well, but I don't see them winning the league next year as things currently stand.
SPEAKER_00We say City didn't do well this year. They got second, yeah. They just didn't do as well as normal.
SPEAKER_02They are like 20 points off their normal sort of placement. But yeah, I I think they'll have a bit of a reset season where like they may maybe don't do as well. I don't really see Liverpool doing that well next season because slot is staying, and you guys weren't very good this season.
SPEAKER_00So I am gonna be optimistic, and I think things can turn around purely for the sake of. I mean, last year at this time, we had just won the league. We were sitting here going, like, man, we're on top of the fucking world. I think you never know what can happen.
SPEAKER_02I think you might do better, but you also like Salah is finished. Van Dyke and Allison might leave. The rest of your team, apart from Sabozli is kind of cheeks.
SPEAKER_00I I disagree. I think we have a good team. I think it's just kind of been a bad year, which again, it's kind of the same thing of like, oh man, it's been a terrible year. We're in fifth place. It's not first. What I'm saying is like it's not big.
SPEAKER_02The reason why we want United have a good shot is because I just I don't think any of the big superpower teams we've seen over the past seven years are really a thing anymore. I don't think City are the centurions anymore. Liverpool are not the same team that were under Klopp. Even though Arsenal just won the league, I honestly don't think they can replicate what they've done this season. I think they're gonna get found out this season with their tactics. I don't think I think they got very I think they got very lucky this season that they scammed a lot of victories and the rest of the league was kind of weak. I don't see Chelsea doing that well next season because they've been really really bad. Spurs might not even be in the season.
SPEAKER_00Spurs might pull through.
SPEAKER_02United, now there's every chance we get three months into the season we've been shit. Absolutely. But we're kind of like the only team that this half of the season has just kind of been like really good for the most part. And like we've been the best team since Christmas, and I feel like we're only getting better.
SPEAKER_00I hate to agree, you have been probably the best team since the second half of the year. So obviously, I'm not gonna root in this direction. Uh, I have seen many a time where United hits a really, really strong patch for like four or five months, and then it's usually you telling me that you guys will win the league. And I think I've seen that for the past decade, and then the strong patch ends. That's not to diminish you, because that feels bad as a friend to you. I do hate United and I want it to happen. Uh the only reason I would be curious what happens.
SPEAKER_02I just think I'm not saying we will. I think the next season is more so it's not that I think we will, I think that's the season we have the best chance to because the the structures that were in place of like the Man City Pep, the Liverpool clock, even past Chelsea teams.
SPEAKER_00I can agree with that.
SPEAKER_02I just think like I think next season will be like one of the most weak and chaotic prem seasons we've seen in a long, long time.
SPEAKER_00Potentially. I think anything could really happen.
SPEAKER_02I could see fucking Villa winning the league like next season. Just I think it's gonna be nuts.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I I'm very curious to see what happens with Liverpool because I think there almost has to be a resurgence or slot is gone, like mid-season, because we have-I mean, we literally have a Premier League winning team. There is not much difference of our team this year versus last year, besides we lost Trent and we it's agent fitness, but that is a and Jalta art recipe. I will say Zhotta, I actually do think affected things, but like it's not to say that his loss isn't big because it is, but if a year later you still can't perform, you can't necessarily blame that. No, and also we started the year five wins straight. Yeah, you brought in players to replace him, and you started strong, like and we brought in good players, and I like all of them. I haven't necessarily like I think theoretically have good hopes.
SPEAKER_02Theoretically, Liverpool should have done well this season, but I think he just brought in like three play like Vert, Frimpong, and Isaac, like all your big money sightings, and they were all shit for most of the season.
SPEAKER_00And two of them still are better, but Isaac and Frimpong are still ass. Isaac just haven't done anything, and he hasn't done anything, and also um oh god. I'm trying to think of my players. McAllister. We have been terrible. McAllister. No. Ah, I wasn't I wasn't gonna bring him. Fuck. He's our striker. I can't think of his goddamn name. Echo TK. Echo TK, yeah, he's been great this year. And I feel like he kind of like slid under the radar in our uh our like transfers, and then like he's been really good, and then we kind of got him, and then we got Isaac, and it's like seemed like a weird yeah.
SPEAKER_02I it was really weird when you signed Ezek off to already getting him in awesome.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I yeah, um I think there's potential. I just I kind of think someone needs to walk in and and shake things up. The problem is I don't know who that is because it should be slot, but I almost feel like there needs to be like some form of upper management that goes and looks at slot and is like, hey, so here's the deal. Um, you won the league, great. You kind of had a bad season, uh not great, whatever. We gave you some leeway. Um if you don't perform well, you're done. Because one a spurt of bad play happens for everyone. There are periods of time where people want to clop out. I could see and they're wrong, and I can't.
SPEAKER_02I could see four or five months into season slot getting sacked. I could see it. I like it.
SPEAKER_00Or he turns things around.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. Antonio Conte just left Napoli, so you can get him.
SPEAKER_00Damn, I would take Conte. I would have taken Alonso.
SPEAKER_02I would have taken like I would have I would have loved him. That's Chelsea for some reason.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he'll get he'll get sacked. He'll get sacked in four months when Chelsea aren't immediately first, anyways.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's it's weird that Alonso went to Chelsea and Mourinho went back to Real Madrid.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it is kind of funny. Um, I do as much as I hate Real Madrid, uh, Mourinho uh to Real is kind of fun.
SPEAKER_02It's base. It's really funny because he got sacked by Fenabarche nine months ago. That does not sound like a real madrid manager.
SPEAKER_00He he also uh had an invincible season. God, who is who has he just made it?
SPEAKER_02Benfuca at Benfica.
SPEAKER_00He had an invincible season at Benfica and didn't win the league. Finished third. Yeah, which is crazy. But also, he's invincible, but again, he had 11 draws. So, like, yeah, it kind of makes sense.
SPEAKER_02Uh I just saw a I'm sorry, I'm on Twitter. I can't I can't escape. I'm addicted. I just saw a tweet speaking about football. It says new Manchester United now have the longest Premier League title draught among the league's traditional top clubs, uh, which is really funny because Spurs are technically a top six club and Spurs have not won the league prem.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but I mean, are they a top six club? I feel like the top six needs to be eliminated now because Spurs, yeah, I think honestly had a bit of time where they proved that they were consistently towards a top. That's been gone. So I will say this.
SPEAKER_02The top six is similar to the in manga, there's the thing known as the big three. The big three in manga is Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece. They are the Big Three is a thing, not because of how popular they still are, it's because at a certain time period in history they were the top three selling mangers for like a long time. The top six is a thing traditionally, because they are the top six clubs that were like the most globally brand recognized and revenue-based over the course of a long time. The fact that Spurs have been shit for a few years, I don't think changes that. If if Spurs continue to be this shit for another decade, then maybe sure. But I still think top six is like a historical thing of like these were the big six clubs for a long time.
SPEAKER_00I I I asked this mostly out of ignorance, but when did Spurs actually start being considered a top six team? Like, has it been a long time, or has it been like 10-20 years? It's oh it's not that that's not a long time.
SPEAKER_02In the Premier League era, so like 20 years.
SPEAKER_00Okay. I just I think that's something that could be taken away because yeah, they uh were a top six and they were a more global brand. They didn't fucking win anything.
SPEAKER_02So the big six became cemented around the early 2010s.
SPEAKER_00It emerged. Yeah, I don't know. I I think if they have a couple more bad years, we could we could uncement that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because it it became a thing when Manchester City got the financial investment and became a big team. Because originally, apparently, uh so in the 1980s it was the big five, which was Arsenal, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Spurs. Then in the late 90s and early 2000s, it was the big two, just United Arsenal. In the mid-2000s, it was the big four, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, and United. And then since the 2010s, it's been the big six.
SPEAKER_00So I think I think they could be taken out because they've gone in and out of the quote-unquote big whatever. I don't feel like we have a big six right now.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, well, we'll see what happens next season. If Spurs manage to stay up and manage to regain forming and get back into the top 10, I think it's fine to keep it. But yeah, if they get like relegated and struggle for another couple of years, we'll probably go back to the big five. Or maybe if like Villa stay, if Villa stay a big team or something, they may join the big six. But yeah, I think guaranteed Arsenal, Liverpool, United are always going to be a big three. Chelsea are pretty much nailed on, and City nowadays are now nailed on, not historically though. Spurs are kind of the one that are struggling. Because thing is, even if United get relegated, they're still a big six team just because of how big the brand is. Spurs' brand is not that big in comparison. It's still large, but it's not, you know, not close.
SPEAKER_00There are bigger brand. Like, there are brands that could be bigger if Spurs were shit for like five years.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like Villa or Newcastle.
SPEAKER_00Villa Newcastle. Hell, even Everton.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, honestly.
SPEAKER_00Like there are shit. I mean, West Ham's about to get relegated. I feel like they're relatively well known.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. That's enough football talk.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's enough football talk. Um yeah, we're sad.
SPEAKER_02Uh well, it's all on it all rests on PSG to not beat to not uh let Arsenal beat them in the Champions League final now.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, that's true. Uh if not, it was all fake, it was all rigged, uh scripted. That's another good one. Um, it was all that. But uh yeah,
Outro
SPEAKER_00I think that's I think that's what we got for you guys today. Um in case you haven't seen for a little bit of time, we're gonna be going uh uh fortnightly or every other week just because uh Dan's got a hectic schedule. We both have some vacations coming up, uh, just some things going on. It kind of makes a little more sense for us to go to fortnightly for a for a bit. Yeah, at some point, we'll be able to do that.
SPEAKER_02The plan is, and I don't know if we've confirmed this, but I'm confirming it now. The plan is to go fortnightly on the podcast until we hit episode 100. And then from episode 100, we're gonna take a hiatus because that will be well, depends on what happens with GTS 6. If GTS 6 does come out November 19th, which is what we think, we will take a hiatus on episode 100 because I'll be just too busy to really record podcast episodes while when that game comes out. And then when things settle down, we'll come back, start season two. So there are what like 12, 13 episodes left before then. If there's anything you want to hear us talk about, discuss, do let us know. Let us know, and we'll try and do that before we take that break. Yeah, pretty much.
SPEAKER_00But uh, yeah. Thanks, thanks for listening, everyone. Uh again, yeah, drop comments. Anything you want us to talk about? Uh anything you just just hate.
SPEAKER_02Like Arsenal.
SPEAKER_00I we probably won't. Like Arsenal. If you hate Arsenal, drop it in the comments because uh we agree we'll probably give you a thumbs up on that one. Uh and we will see you guys uh later. Peace out.
